It was originally registered for US copyright on May 2, 1941, under registration number LP10452. Under the Copyright Act of 1909, works published between 1928 and 1963 required a manual renewal during the 28th year of their first copyright term to remain protected. A thorough search of the Stanford Copyright Renewal Database and the Library of Congress Catalog of Copyright Entries (CCE) indicates that no renewal was filed for this specific title. While many Terrytoons were renewed by Viacom or CBS (the successor in interest), several titles from the early 1940s failed to meet the renewal requirements. Because the copyright was not renewed in 1968 or 1969, the film entered the public domain in the United States upon the expiration of its initial 28-year term.
