A Thief Catcher is a 1914 American silent comedy film produced by Mack Sennett's Keystone Film Company and directed by Ford Sterling. It is historically significant for featuring a cameo by Charlie Chaplin as a policeman, a discovery made in 2010 when a print was found at an antique sale. Under US copyright law, all works published before January 1, 1928, have entered the public domain. This film, having been released in 1914, passed the 75-year term then in effect and the maximum 95-year term established by later extensions (ending in 2009).
