Why this status applies
A Woman of Affairs (1928) is currently under copyright protection in the United States. Under the Copyright Act of 1909, works published between 1928 and 1963 required a renewal filing in their 28th year to extend protection to a second term. This film was originally registered by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Distributing Corp. on December 24, 1928, under registration number LP25936.
A search of the Stanford Copyright Renewal Database and the Library of Congress Catalog of Copyright Entries confirms that the copyright was successfully renewed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. on January 3, 1956, under renewal number R162125. This film is scheduled to enter the public domain on January 1, 2024.
