Aladdin's Lamp

The film 'Aladdin's Lamp' is a US-produced animated short from the 'Aesop's Sound Fables' series, released in 1931 by Van Beuren Studios and distributed by RKO Radio Pictures. Under the Copyright Act of 1909, works published between 1928 and 1963 required a renewal filing with the US Copyright Office during their 28th year of protection to remain under copyright for the second term. A search of the Stanford Copyright Renewal Database and the Catalog of Copyright Entries (CCE) shows no record of renewal for this title. While many Van Beuren cartoons were registered for an initial term, the studio's subsequent decline and the expiration of its distribution contracts resulted in a failure to renew the vast majority of its 1930s library. As no renewal was filed by the end of 1959, the film entered the public domain in the United States. It is frequently found in public domain animation collections and hosted on the Internet Archive without restriction.
