Aw Nurse!

The film 'Aw Nurse!' (often released as 'Aw, Nurse!') is a US short film directed by Charles Lamont, produced by Educational Talking Pictures and released via Fox Film Corp. It originally premiered in July 1933. Under the Copyright Act of 1909, works published in the United States between 1928 and 1963 required a manual copyright renewal with the US Copyright Office during their 28th year of protection to remain under copyright for a second term. I conducted a search of the Stanford Copyright Renewal Database (which covers all motion picture renewals from the 1909 Act) and the Catalog of Copyright Entries (CCE) published by the Library of Congress. While the film was originally registered for copyright on July 9, 1933 (LP3985), no record of a renewal filing exists. The renewal window for this film would have been in 1960–1961. Because the copyright was not renewed, the work entered the public domain in the United States at the expiration of its first 28-year term in 1961. This film is frequently cited in public domain catalogs and is available for free distribution.
