Bank Alarm

Bank Alarm was released in 1937 and registered for US copyright by Grand National Pictures on June 18, 1937, under registration number LP7224. Under the Copyright Act of 1909, works registered between 1928 and 1963 required a renewal filing with the US Copyright Office during the 28th year of their first copyright term to remain protected. I conducted a search of the Stanford Copyright Renewal Database and the Library of Congress Catalog of Copyright Entries (CCE) covering the years 1964 and 1965. No renewal record was found for this title or registration number. Grand National Pictures was a 'poverty row' studio that went bankrupt in 1939; many of its titles fell into the public domain due to administrative neglect during the renewal window. Because the copyright was not renewed, the work entered the public domain in the United States upon the expiration of its initial 28-year term in 1965.
