Barbed Wire

Under the current copyright laws of the United States, all works published or registered before January 1, 1929, have entered the public domain. Barbed Wire was released on August 6, 1927, and its copyright was originally registered by Paramount Famous Lasky Corp. on September 10, 1927 (LP24391). Because the film was published prior to the 1929 cutoff, it is now in the public domain regardless of whether the copyright was renewed in its 28th year. Even if it had been renewed (the renewal would have occurred in 1954 or 1955), the maximum term of 95 years from publication has expired as of January 1, 2023.
