Comanche Station was released in 1960 as the final film in the 'Ranown Cycle' directed by Budd Boetticher and starring Randolph Scott. Under the US Copyright Act of 1909, works published between 1928 and 1963 required a renewal filing in the 28th year to maintain protection. This film was originally registered by Columbia Pictures Corp. on February 1, 1960, under registration number LP15286. A search of the Stanford Copyright Renewal Database and the US Copyright Office records confirms that the copyright was successfully renewed by Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. on December 8, 1988, under renewal number RE0000407137. Because the copyright was renewed, the film was granted a second term of protection, which was later extended by the Copyright Term Extension Act of 1998 to 95 years from the original publication date. Consequently, the film will not enter the public domain in the United States until January 1, 2056.
