Convict's Code

Convict's Code (1939) was a Monogram Pictures production released on February 11, 1939. Under the Copyright Act of 1909, works published between 1928 and 1963 required a renewal filing with the US Copyright Office during the 28th year of their first term to maintain protection for a second term. A search of the Stanford Copyright Renewal Database and the Library of Congress Catalog of Copyright Entries (CCE) reveals no renewal registration for this title. While the film was originally registered (LP8667, Feb 11, 1939), the failure to renew in 1966 or 1967 caused the copyright to expire and the work to enter the public domain. This is corroborated by its inclusion in numerous public domain film catalogs and its availability on archive.org without copyright restriction.
