Cracked Ice (1927), a comedy short directed by Norman Taurog and starring Lige Conley, was released on February 27, 1927. As of January 1, 2023, the '1927' cohort of creative works saw its copyright protections expire, placing this film definitively in the public domain. Even prior to this automatic expiration, research into the Library of Congress Catalog of Copyright Entries and the Stanford Renewal Database indicates that many short subjects from Educational Pictures were not consistently renewed after their initial 28-year term, but such a search is now moot given the age of the work.
