Mesmerized

Mesmerized (also known as Shocked) is an Australian-New Zealand-British co-production that was distributed in the United States by RKO Pictures in 1986 following its 1985 Australian premiere. Because the film was released between 1978 and 1989 (the 'notice window'), its US copyright status depended on the presence of a copyright notice on the prints or registration within five years of publication. A search of the US Copyright Office online database confirms a registration was filed by RKO Pictures on July 10, 1986 (PA0000300958), which meets the 'cure' requirement of the 1976 Copyright Act for works published in that window. Furthermore, as a foreign work that was likely still under copyright in its countries of origin (Australia/UK) on January 1, 1996, it would also be eligible for automatic restoration of US copyright under the Uruguay Round Agreements Act (URAA), even if US formalities had been missed. The film continues to be commercially exploited and licensed by successors to the RKO library.
