Regeneration

The film 'Regeneration' (often cited as 'The Regeneration'), directed by Raoul Walsh and produced by Fox Film Corp., was released in the United States on September 13, 1915. Under the Copyright Act of 1909 and the subsequent amendments, all works published in the United States before January 1, 1928, have entered the public domain due to the expiration of their maximum possible copyright term of 75 years (or the 95-year rule for works still under copyright at the time of the 1976 Act and 1998 extension). Since this film was published in 1915, its copyright expired no later than 1990 (1915 + 75 years). Even if the copyright had been properly renewed in its 28th year (1943), it would not have survived past the 95-year limit that applies to pre-1978 works. Therefore, the film is definitively in the public domain in the United States regardless of renewal status.
