Roughest Africa

Roughest Africa is a silent short comedy film starring Stan Laurel, directed by Ralph Ceder and produced by Hal Roach. It was released on September 30, 1923, by Pathe Exchange. According to the current US Copyright Law (17 USC § 304), all works published or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office before January 1, 1928, have entered the public domain. Because this film was published in 1923, its maximum possible copyright term of 95 years expired no later than the end of 2018. Even regardless of its renewal status (which would have been required in the 28th year via the Copyright Office CCE), the age of the work renders it definitively public domain under the 'pre-1928' rule.
