The Feathered Nest

The film 'The Feathered Nest', directed by Frank Borzage and Edward Sloman, was originally released in the United States on August 20, 1916. Under the terms of the 1976 Copyright Act and the subsequent Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act, the duration of copyright for works published before January 1, 1978, was a maximum of 95 years from the date of publication, provided they were properly renewed. However, all works published in the United States before January 1, 1928, have now entered the public domain regardless of their renewal status. As a 1916 production, 'The Feathered Nest' passed into the public domain on January 1, 1991 (based on the original 75-year term applicable then) or at the latest, it remained there following the expiration of all possible extensions. Because it was published more than 95 years ago, its copyright protection has expired as a matter of law.
