The Lone Game

The Lone Game is a two-reel silent drama directed by Edward Morrissey and produced by the Thanhouser Film Corporation, released on December 19, 1915. Because the film was published before the current cutoff of January 1, 1929, it has entered the public domain in the United States by expiration of its copyright term. Under the Copyright Act of 1909, works were granted an initial 28-year term and a 28-year renewal term for a total of 56 years. Even if this film had been properly registered and renewed, the maximum protection would have expired by 1971. Under current US law (17 U.S.C. § 304), all works published before 1929 are now in the public domain regardless of renewal status.
