The Revolutionary

The film 'The Revolutionary' (also known as 'The Russian Revolutionary'), directed by Herbert Blaché and starring Alice Blaché, was released in the United States in 1917. Under US copyright law, all works published or registered before January 1, 1928, have entered the public domain regardless of renewal status. Because the film was released in 1917, its maximum copyright term of 75 years (under the 1909 Act as extended by the 1976 Act) would have expired no later than 1992. Furthermore, the 1998 Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act only applied to works still under copyright at that time (1923 or later). Therefore, this work is definitively in the public domain in the United States.
