Under the Copyright Renewal Act of 1992, works published between January 1, 1964, and December 31, 1977, were granted an automatic renewal term of 67 years, for a total of 95 years of protection. Unlike works from the 1928–1963 era, a failure to file a renewal application with the U.S. Copyright Office did not result in the work entering the public domain. Because 'The Time Travelers' was released in 1964, it was protected from the 28-year renewal requirement that affected earlier films. A search of the U.S. Copyright Office records confirms the original registration (LP29237) was filed by Danco Productions on October 29, 1964. The film has been consistently exploited commercially by major distributors, including a 2015 high-definition Blu-ray release by Kino Lorber and licensed streaming through services like Pluto TV (via MGM/Orion). Because the 1964 release year places it inside the automatic renewal window, the film is protected by copyright in the U.S. until 2060.
